The Maldives is the smallest and least populated nation in Asia. It is made up of 26 atolls (1,192 islands). It also has the lowest natural high point of any country in the world at just 2.4 meters above sea level. One of the largest concerns for this island nation is global warming and rising sea levels therefore they are a front runner in environmentally friendly power and other resources. The Maldives, which are situated in the India Ocean southwest of India, are a big tourist destination for their blue waters, warm temperatures and picturesque resorts. Unlike the resorts the capital city, Malé, completely covers the entire central island and there is always new land being made to accommodate for the growing city. Definitely a unique nation that is often forgotten because of it’s small size but easily can be remembered as part of an unforgettable trip!
