Angkor Wat, Cambodia
Angkor Wat is a temple site in Angkor Cambodia. It is Cambodia’s number one tourists destination and so important to Cambodia that it is on their national flag. It is one of the best examples left today of Khmer Architecture. It was first a temple of major religious significance to the Hindu but later became a Buddhist temple. It is surrounded by a moat as well as large walls. “Angkor Wat” literally means City Temple. Very different from palaces I have visited in Europe, Angkor Wat has always intrigued my curiosity about the history of Southeast Asia. I sadly don’t know too much about it but there are so many beautiful historic buildings in Cambodia and the surrounding nations that make me want to visit them all and learn as much as I can!
