Petra and Wadi Rum, Jordan

Petra and Wadi Rum both located in Jordan are hands down one of the most amazing places in the world you MUST see. BBC says Petra is “one of the 40 places you must see before you die.” Petra is actually hidden in a canyon and built right into the walls! It was completely unknown to the western world until 1812 when Johann Ludwig Burckhardt explored it. UNESCO says it is one of the world’s most important historical sites. The walk down the narrow passage called Siq leading up to the Treasury is so suspenseful and makes the site that much more impressive. Nearby Wadi Rum is a valley cut into sandstone and granite rock. In my opinion it looks similar to Monument Valley of Arizona/Utah but has more history surrounding it containing stories, paintings and ruins from the Nabatean people. Most people visit Wadi Rum as a day trip from Petra. I really need to visit both places now! Who want’s to take me to Jordan?

Immediate thoughts: Hey look! It’s the place from Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade. Parts of that movie really creeped...
