Milford Sound, New Zealand
Milford Sound is a fjord in southern New Zealand. It is part of a national park system and is a UNESCO site. It is considered New Zealand’s top tourist destination and was voted by TripAdvisor as the world’s top tourist destination in 2008. It is famous for its dramatic mountainscape and many high waterfalls that exist after a rainy day. More impressively, on windy days, the waterfalls can actually blow upwards. It is sometimes considered the 8th wonder of the natural world. (Although there is no exact list of any of the seven wonders.) Its location is quiet remote, about 307 km from Queenstown, but that doesn’t stop tourists from visiting one of the most breathtaking places on the planet!
